Queen Sofia of Spain has travelled to Paris to cheer on the Spanish athletes as the Summer Olympics come to a close.

The Queen was on hand to watch Spain compete in artistic swimming and later took a photo with the athletes, Alisa Ozhogina Ozhogina and Iris Tio Casas.

She also attended the women’s water polo final to watch Spain defeat Australia for gold.

Queen Sofia is just the latest Spanish royal to travel to Paris to cheer on Spain. King Felipe, Queen Letizia, the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia have all been in France throughout the Olympic Games.

The Summer Olympic Games come to a close today with the Closing Ceremony. The next Summer Olympic Games will be held in Los Angeles, California, United States in 2028.
