Queen Sofía has presided over a ceremony at the Camilo José Cela University during which Don Emilio Lora-Tamayo was named honorary rector.

Queen Sofía was received by the mayor of Villanueva de la Cañada, Luis Partida; the Secretary General of Research, Raquel Yotti; the general secretary of Universities, José Manuel Pingarrón; the president of the Camilo José Cela University (UCJC), Nieves Segovia; and by the rector of the UCJC, Héctor Escamilla.

She entered with the sounds of “Veni Creator Spiritus”, performed by soprano Tatiana Melnychenko, accompanied on the piano by Mendmaa Dorhin and declared the session open as she sat down.

Don Emilio Lora-Tamayo was then presented with the title and a medal as Honorary Rector for Life. Afterwards, Queen Sofía signed the UCJC honour book.
