The Duke of Sussex has agreed to a financial settlement with Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN).
The full details of the settlement have not been revealed, but David Sherborne, the Duke’s lawyer, said that MGN agreed to “a substantial additional sum by way of damages” as well as the costs.<
MGN was sued over 148 articles, which the Duke alleged had been obtained illegally. He said he was motivated by a desire to protect his wife, as he gave evidence last June. In December, he was awarded £140,600 in damages when a judge found that 15 of the 33 selected articles were the product of phone hacking or unlawful information gathering.
In a statement, Prince Harry singled out Piers Morgan, the then-Daily Mirror editor and said he “knew perfectly well what was going on.”
