King Charles III and Queen Camilla have welcomed members of the UK-Kenyan community ahead of their state visit to Kenya next week.

The state visit will take place from 31 October to 3 November, and it will focus on the warm relationship between Kenya and the United Kingdom. The visit is at the invitation of President Ruto and comes ahead of Kenya’s celebrations for its 60 years of independence. The visit will be the King’s first visit to a Commonwealth nation as King, and it is also in Kenya that Queen Elizabeth II’s reign began in 1952.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit Nairobi City County, Mombasa County and surrounding areas.

During the reception, there was a display of items for the Royal Collection Trust in relation to the longstanding connection to Kenya. This included photographs of the visit of the then Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip just days before she acceded to the throne.
