Queen Silvia celebrates the elderly

Queen Silvia of Sweden has celebrated the elderly in Ekerö municipality.

The Queen of Sweden celebrated the Day of the Elderly in Ekebyhov Castle Park. She greeted the many guests and spent time talking to those gathered.

Guests were treated to a picnic and music by Tina Ahlin and Gabriella Lambert-Olsson before everyone sang Sweden’s national anthem together.

The Day of the Elderly has been celebrated annually since 1998 in Ekerö; Queen Silvia initiated the idea for the special day. Originally, it was celebrated in Drottningholm Palace Park, but it has since been transferred to Ekerö.
