Princess Ariane of the Netherlands will miss the annual King’s Day celebrations this year.
Queen Máxima mentioned this news to the press at the end of the state visit to Kenya. Princess Ariane will be busy with her exams at the United World College Adriatic in Italy.
“We are very proud of her. But she will be very busy with her final exams during her birthday (on 10 April) and afterwards, so she will not be there on King’s Day, unfortunately. We will miss her enormously. But yes, the priority is her studies. We hope that she will come home after her diploma”, Queen Máxima said.
Celebrations for Princess Ariane’s father, King Willem-Alexander, for his birthday will be all over the Netherlands, but the royal family will be visiting the city of Doetinchem in the east of the Netherlands. The day will also be celebrated a day early as the law forbids celebrating the King’s birthday on a Sunday.
