King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia welcome Danish counterparts

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden have welcomed their Danish counterparts, King Frederik X and Queen Mary, for a state visit.

It is the first visit of King Frederik X, who acceded to the throne in January 2024, and the first incoming state visit from Denmark to Sweden since 1985. The Danish King and Queen were accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen, Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister of Business Morten Bødskov and Minister of Taxation Jeppe Bruus.

King Frederik and Queen Mary sailed into Stockholm on the royal yacht Dannebrog. They were transported to Skeppsbron with the Vasaorden and were accompanied by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden.

At Skeppsbron, King Frederik and Queen Mary were received by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. Together, the Kings inspected a grenadier company from the Life Guard.

In the Royal Palace’s Rikssalen, the King and Queen of Denmark met with representatives from the Riksdag and the government. A photo of the two families was taken in the Bernadotte Gallery in the Royal Palace.
