The Princess of Orange has undertaken her first solo royal engagement in the Netherlands.
Princess Amalia, as she is more commonly known, christened the Royal Navy ship Den Helder on 22 February.
The Princess cut the rope that smashed the champagne against the bow to officially christen the ship, stating: “I baptise you, Den Helder, and wish you and your crew a safe voyage.”

Amalia also received a tour and joked that she hoped she “wouldn’t cause any damage” to the ship.
When the Princess was given a look at the controls of the ship, she said: “All very nice buttons, which I certainly don’t touch.”

She later told the press that she found the visit “exciting, but special.”
Den Helder was constructed by contractor Damen Naval, and it was christened in its shipyard in Vlissingen in front of 1,100 guests. It will serve as a Royal Navy supply ship.
This was the first solo royal engagement for the 21-year-old heir to the Dutch throne.
