Princess Alexia of the Netherlands has officially achieved her International Baccalaureate from the United World College of the Atlantic, the Government Information Service has announced.
She left the UWC in Wales in May after completing her exams. She attended the traditional Leavers’ Celebration alongside the Princess of Asturias. Princess Leonor was joined by her parents, King Felipe and Queen Letizia, and her sister Infanta Sofía, who will start her stay at the school in the new term. Princess Alexia was joined by her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. Unfortunately, her sisters are both still on their school terms and were thus unable to join her.
At the time, it was unclear what the next step for her would be. However, during the annual summer photo call, Princess Alexia told the press she is taking a gap year. She said, “A bit of travel, working and stuff.” She said there were “lots of plans”, but “not much has been organised.” This led to a joke from her sister, who said, “As usual!”
Princess Alexia is the second daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. She is second in the line of succession, behind her elder sister, the Princess of Orange.
