Pope Francis is in Belgium for a four-day visit, and he made an impromptu visit to the royal crypt at Laeken.

According to the Belgian Royal House, “Their Majesties the King and the Queen accompanied His Holiness the Pope this morning for a moment of reflection in the Royal Crypt. This spontaneous visit, at the request of the Pope, was not part of the official program of his visit to Belgium and was strictly private. The King and the Queen were present out of hospitality to the Pope.”

The Pope prayed in front of the tomb of King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola of Belgium.
