The Swedish Royal Family celebrated National Day throughout the country, except Princess Estelle, who is abroad on a language trip.
King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Oscar, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine, and Chris O’Neill all attended portions of the celebrations.
The King and Queen travelled to Håbo in Uppsala County for celebrations and a tour of Skokloster Castle. Their Majesties greeted the crowds in the palace park, and then inaugurated the sculpture The Royal Elk in the meadow.
The Crown Princess Couple opened Stockholm Palace to the public for the summer, and visitors could tour it for free on the holiday. It is a tradition each year that a member of the Royal Family welcomes the public to the palace and opens the doors for summer touring.
The Crown Princess said before the opening, “So much of our Swedish history and our fantastic cultural heritage is gathered in the royal palaces. I am, therefore, very happy that we can make it available by keeping the palaces open today.”

Prince Carl Philip later attended the Changing of the Guard at the Royal Palace’s Outer Courtyard. Victoria and Daniel also joined festivities at Skönviksparken in Rönninge in Salem.
In the evening, the Royal Family attended the televised celebrations at Skansen Museum. The King, Queen, Crown Princess, Prince Daniel, and Princess Estelle travelled from the palace to the museum in a carriage. Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill joined them at Skansen after arriving by car.
The King gave his annual speech, telling the country, “Sweden has a stable community that allows us to pursue our ambitions and try new paths. A security that gives us the courage to dare and the space to grow.
“The foundation of this community is trust – between people and in our society. It has taken time to build, but can be quickly destroyed in a world where fundamental values and established truths are being questioned.”

The day then concluded with the traditional reception back at the palace for representatives from the government and diplomatic corps.
While Estelle may be abroad, the annual photos of Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar were also released in the morning. Five images were released of the siblings with the Princess in the Swedish national dress.
