As reported yesterday, Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway is now on the waiting list for a lung transplant.

The Crown Princess was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, and she has recently deteriorated quickly.

According to the Norwegian royal court, we will not have another update on the Crown Princess’s health until she has had the lung transplant. Any subsequent updates will be provided when appropriate and until she is discharged from the hospital.

Following her discharge, she will have a long period of rehabilitation. There will likely be no updates during this time.

There is a law against seeking or disclosing information that could connect the donor and the recipient of an organ. Thus, the timing of the transplant will very likely not be released.

There were 9 people on the waiting list for lung transplants in Norway in the first quarter of 2026, according to Scandiatransplant.
