Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg joined Pope Leo XIV for an evening Mass, concluding his Apostolic Journey to France.
In his final event of the four-day Apostolic Journey to France, Pope Leo XIV celebrated Mass with Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie at the Cathedral of Saint Stephen (Cathédrale Saint-Étienne) in Metz.
The historic cathedral was the setting of Robert Schuman’s funeral and holds special meaning near the borders of Germany and Luxembourg, as well as in European history.

Yesterday, the Grand Duchess joined her husband, who earlier attended a meeting of European leaders with Pope Leo, at the evening Mass, where he stressed that ‘choosing forgiveness and mercy over revenge and violence is not a path of weakness, but rather one of strength’, Vatican News reported.
Grand Duchess Stéphanie was exercising her ‘privilège du blanc’, which allows her to wear white in the presence of the Pope — only eight women in the world are allowed this privilege — as did Princess Charlene of Monaco earlier in the day.
