Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway visited Kirkens SOS.

Kirkens SOS is a crisis hotline that can be reached 24 hours a day. Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Oslo’s mayor, Anne Lindboe, received a tour and watched as a volunteer took calls.

Kirkens SOS is in dire need of new volunteers as they are currently experiencing queues. Conversations have also been lasting longer, as the seriousness of the conversations requires. They currently have 1,000 volunteers.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit is the patron of Kirkens SOS and sent the following message to the volunteers when the hotline celebrated its 50th anniversary last year: “A listening fellow human being can save lives. You have experienced that through millions of conversations these 50 years. You meet people with professionalism, patience and warmth – around the clock. In Kirkens SOS, you take the breadth of human life seriously. You convey hope – and the most important message: You are not alone.”
