The Prince of Wales visited the Headquarters of the British Formula E team, Jaguar TCS Racing. The visit showcased their approach to electrification, innovation and sustainability.

The Prince toured the state-of-the-art site in Kidlington, meeting individuals from a range of different roles across Jaguar TCS Racing, including engineers and graduates. Prince William met Jaguar drivers Mitch Evans, who has more victories than any other driver in Formula E, and António Félix da Costa, the 2020 Formula E World Champion.

William saw how the team designs, develops, and manufactures their race-winning Jaguar I-TYPE 7 and future race cars in-house. To control costs and reduce environmental impact, all Formula E teams use the same chassis, bodywork, battery and tyres. However, manufacturers such as Jaguar develop their own powertrain—the motor generator unit, transmission & inverter—plus rear suspension, cooling system, drive shafts and electrical harnesses, as well as bespoke Jaguar software and controls. This ensures the team’s focus is on developing innovative, efficient and lightweight electric vehicle technology, which is proven on track and subsequently informs the engineering of the next generation of Jaguar all-electric road cars.

With sustainability at the centre of Formula E’s purpose, several regulations are in place to reduce the sport’s environmental impact. The 2025/2026 calendar is designed with races grouped by continent to minimise logistics distances. Jaguar TCS Racing’s entire track operation, including race cars, garage setup, and technical equipment, travels directly from race to race, returning to the UK only at the end of the season. In addition, the Championship limits the number of technical personnel who can travel to a race weekend. As a result, Jaguar TCS Racing engineers provide vital setup and strategy support to their trackside colleagues through a remote operations room, which the Prince also had the opportunity to visit.

Formula E is the world’s first all-electric international single-seater Championship and is now the fastest-growing motorsport series on the planet. It is the first sport to be certified net zero carbon footprint since inception, achieving B Corp Certification, the first global sport to do so, a milestone for sustainable innovation in sport.

Jaguar TCS Racing exists to innovate and drive technical leadership on and off the track, competing in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship — the pinnacle of electric racing — for a decade. Jaguar TCS Racing has won more races than any other team in Formula E history, with 25 victories and 33 podiums. They secured both the ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Championship and Manufacturer’s Trophy in 2024.
