Queen Margrethe has been admitted to Rigshospitalet, being treated for a ‘large blood clot in the hip region’, says the Palace.

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has been admitted to Copenhagen’s Rigshospitalet. Denmark’s former Queen is being treated after a CT scan showed a ‘large blood clot in the hip region’ which is a result of a previous fall.

It is expected that Queen Margrethe will now be hospitalised for a number of days. According to the Royal Court, Her Majesty is ‘doing well under the circumstances.’

Queen Margrethe was most recently hospitalised this month following a cardiac episode resulting in a balloon angioplasty of the coronary artery.
