Queen Margrethe hospitalised

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has been taken to hospital after a new blood clot was found as well as ‘mild’ dehydration. 

Queen Margrethe was admitted to Rigshospitalet on Sunday after feeling unwell. A new blood clot in the hip region and mild dehydration have been detected, both of which are being treated.

The Royal House says that the former Queen is ‘in good spirits’ and, given the circumstances, is doing ‘well.’

Queen Margrethe is expected to be hospitalised next week for both observation and treatment. As a result, Her Majesty will unfortunately not attend King Harald V’s state funeral in Oslo on Wednesday.

The Royal House will announce when there is news.

Queen Margrethe was recently hospitalised for the same blood clotting issues back in May where the former Queen suffered from a case of “angina pectoris” — Margrethe was treated with antibiotics and was later discharged.
