Several orders have been exchanged on the first day of the state visit of Denmark to Sweden.
King Frederik X of Denmark was appointed the royal chain of the Royal Order of the Seraphim, which is a special honour. As Crown Prince, he was already appointed as a Knight of the Royal Order of the Seraphim.
Queen Mary was appointed a Knight of the Order of Seraphim; she was previously appointed a Member Grand Cross of the Royal Order of the Polar Star. She is the first woman ever to be appointed a knight of any Swedish order instead of a member as was customary. This is following a reform of the Swedish Royal Orders last year.
Prince Daniel was appointed as a Knight of the Order of the Elephant. The Swedish King and Queen and Crown Princess Victoria are already Knights of the Order of the Elephant.
