King Charles and other members of the royal family have attended a service of thanksgiving in Westminster Abbey.
King Charles was joined by Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and Sir Tim Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent.

The service marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day, Victory in Europe.
After arriving, the members of the royal family joined the congregation in a national two-minute silence of reflection and remembrance. Following the two-minute silence, King Charles placed a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior. The Prince of Wales then did the same as Queen Camilla and the Princess of Wales watched on.

The Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, was among those who gave a reading. A radio recording of Sir Winston Churchill was also played.
After the service, King Charles and Queen Camilla met with veterans in the congregation.

The event ended after Queen Camilla laid flowers at the Innocent Victims’ Memorial, outside the Abbey’s West Door. This was also done by the Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and the Duchess of Gloucester.
