Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway have hosted a Christmas workshop at their home.
The couple invited children and adults from the Church’s City Mission to their home, Skagum, for a tour and festive workshop where everyone decorated gingerbread cookies shaped like hearts and stars.
They were also treated to wine and custard during the fun event.
The Church’s City Mission works on child protective measures to help children, youth and families during difficult times. Many have complicated needs, and the mission is able to help provide for such needs.
The Church’s City Mission “is an open and inclusive non-profit organisation that works in cities all over Norway among people who struggle with everyday life in various ways. Our vision is that all people experience respect, justice and care,” according to the organisation.
They help with orphanages and family homes with open-minded Christian values. The orphanages provide care for children until their future care is and work extensively with family homes. The staff is experienced with children who are in crisis and can provide support they may not receive elsewhere.
The Christmas workshop took place on St Lucia’s Day (13 December), which is widely celebrated in the Scandinavian countries.
