Zara Tindall’s best friend is set to become a lady-in-waiting to Princess Anne.
NHS midwife Dolly Maude is one of four newly appointed ladies-in-waiting for Zara’s mother. The Telegraph reports that the appointments will be announced in the Court Circular on 1 February.
A lady-in-waiting accompanies royals to engagements and helps them with their day-to-day tasks.
Maude served as a bridesmaid at Zara’s 2011 wedding to Mike Tindall and delivered Zara’s third child, Lucas, on the bathroom floor.
Mike later said about Maude’s assistance with the birth of Lucas: “Fortunately Zara’s friend Dolly is, she’s actually more important than I am at making sure she’s been at all three of my children’s births. She was there and recognised that we wouldn’t have got to the hospital in time, so it was run into the gym, get a mat, get into the bathroom, towels down, brace brace brace!”
The midwife is said to also get along great with the Princess Royal and is very discreet, making her perfect for the job.
She joined Zara at the races last year sporting a “lady-in-waiting” badge as a joke, but many took it seriously, resulting in a spokesman for Zara having to clarify to the media that she did not have any ladies-in-waiting and the badge was “a joke.”
