King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden visited Lithuania on 18 May at the invitation of President Gitanas Nausėda.
The King and Queen were in Lithuania just for a one-day official visit and were welcomed by the President and First Lady.
The President wrote on X, “Welcome to Lithuania, Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden. Lithuania and Sweden are connected by a long history, cultural ties and close friendship. It is a pleasure to host the Royal Couple in Vilnius today!”
Their Majesties had lunch with the President and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius and held a bilateral meeting.

King Carl Gustaf has been involved with the Scouts his entire life and is passionate about supporting them, so it was no surprise that he and Queen Silvia joined the President and First Lady for a meeting with Lithuanian Scouts at the Presidential Palace. The King was also gifted a scouting neckerchief, framed as a commemorative token, from the Scouts.
Queen Silvia also opened up a new palliative care centre, while His Majesty joined President Nausėda for a visit to a State Border Guard unit in Mickūnai.
Later, the quartet showed their joint support for Ukraine with a visit to the Ukrainian Centre, which provides a welcoming and educational place for the Ukrainian community in Lithuania. It serves as a haven to those who have fled the ongoing war in Ukraine after the Russian invasion in 2022 and helps integrate them into the Lithuanian community.
