Now that the dust has settled over the 2024 US Presidential Election, people have been questioning what Donald Trump’s re-election means for Prince Harry.
Trump has made his opinion of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex clear in the past. He also said that Harry shouldn’t expect any special privileges.
In an interview with the Daily Express, he said: “I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen [the late Queen Elizabeth II]. It is unforgivable. He would be able to fend for himself if it was up to me.”
Prince Harry admitted to drug use in his memoir Spare and the Heritage Foundation in the United States filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Biden administration, seeking to have the Prince’s immigration records made public.
However, a judge ruled that his US visa application would remain private.
Regarding the drug use and accusations by some that Harry lied on his visa application, Donald Trump told GB News in March 2024: “We’ll have to see if they know something about the drugs, and if he lied they’ll have to take appropriate action.”
The President-elect was then pressed on if that would mean Harry might not be able to stay in America. Trump said: “Oh, I don’t know. You’ll have to tell me. You just have to tell me. You would have thought they would have known this a long time ago.”
Many took this to mean that the 45th and soon-to-be 47th President would kick the Prince out of the United States.
Trump’s son, Eric Trump, was recently questioned on Harry’s immigration status, and his response was rather blunt.
“I don’t give a damn if he did drugs. It means nothing. I can tell you that our father and our entire family has tremendous respect for the monarchy,” he told the Daily Mail.
He added: “Truthfully I don’t give a damn about Prince Harry, and I don’t think this country does either.”
Based on Eric Trump’s statement, it doesn’t seem that Donald Trump will be paying too much attention to the Prince when he gets into office.
The President-elect will have more important issues on his plate than the visa status of a foreign prince with the southern US border and economy expected to take centre stage.
