King Charles has led the nation on Remembrance Sunday.
Thousands of veterans and civilians joined the King and other members of the royal family at the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in London. Remembrance Sunday always takes place on the closest Sunday to Armistice Day.
King Charles placed the first wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of the nation. Queen Camilla’s wreath was placed by her equerry, Major Ollie Plunket. The Queen is still recovering from a chest infection.
The Prince of Wales, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal came next, followed by political leaders.
The Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester watched the ceremony from the balcony of the Foreign Office. The Duke of Kent and Sir Timothy Laurence were also present.
At 11 o’clock, Big Ben announced the start of the two-minute silence.
