The Prince and Princess of Wales marked their wedding anniversary by visiting IntoUniversity.

It was fifteen years ago that a young couple, newly named the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, stepped out of Westminster Abbey with a global audience of millions. Yesterday, however, their quiet engagement to mark their anniversary went completely under the radar until it was announced later in the day.

In the lead-up to their wedding in 2011, Buckingham Palace announced in March of that year,

Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton have set up a charitable gift fund for those who very generously may wish to donate to charity to help the couple celebrate their wedding. Having been touched by the goodwill shown them since the announcement of their engagement, Prince William and Miss Middleton have asked that anyone who might wish to give them a wedding gift consider giving instead to a charitable fund.

The Gift Fund was set up so that anyone who wished to give Their Royal Highnesses a wedding gift could instead donate to their chosen charities in celebration of their wedding. It ultimately raised over £1 million for causes close to the couple’s hearts. At the time of the Royal Wedding Gift Fund in 2011, IntoUniversity operated in just six centres in London. Today, it has grown into a network of 46 centres across England and Scotland, supporting more than 60,000 young people each year, helping them achieve their full potential.

The visit, which took place at the charity’s Walworth site, saw the Prince and Princess of Wales join a group of Year 5 students from Victory Primary School who were taking part in one of the charity’s free educational activities and workshops.

Earlier in the day, the Prince and Princess took to social media to post a personal message, with a photograph taken during the recent Easter holiday, “Celebrating 15 years of marriage ❤️”. The Wales family spent their time in Cornwall.
