The Princess of Wales has become the patron of Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice in Wales.

To mark the new patronage, the Princess visited Tŷ Hafan’s hospice in Sully, Wales, on 30 January where she played with children and met bereaved families.

Catherine prioritises children in her charity work and is also the patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice.

Tŷ Hafan (Haven House in Welsh) Children’s Hospice is Wales’s first children’s hospice, and it opened in 1999.

According to Kensington Palace, the hospice “provides free care and support to children with life-shortening conditions and their families, both within the hospice and in homes and communities in Wales.”

It focuses on holistic support for the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the children and their families.

The King, as Prince of Wales, has been patron of the hospice since 2001. The late Diana, Princess of Wales, was also patron while the organisation was in the fundraising stage.
