Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway will not attend the National Day celebrations in Oslo with the Norwegian Royal Family, and he has a special reason for his absence.

The Prince is set to graduate from high school and will mark the national holiday with his classmates.

Sverre Magnus, 18, will graduate from the Elvebakken upper secondary school in Oslo. He has been studying on the Information Technology and Media Production track.

The Royal House also released a new photo of the Prince ahead of graduation showing the royal outdoors in a red long-sleeved shirt.

The Prince’s parents, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and his older sister, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, will welcome the children’s parade at Skaugum in the morning before joining King Harald and Queen Sonja on the Royal Palace’s balcony in Oslo in the afternoon.

Norway’s National Day is celebrated annually on 17 May.
