Prince and Princess of Wales issue statement after Liverpool accident

The Prince and Princess of Wales are “deeply saddened” after a tragic accident in Liverpool.

The tragedy took place in Liverpool while the city was celebrating the Liverpool Football Club’s Premier League victory parade.

William and Catherine wrote on social media: “We are deeply saddened by the scenes in Liverpool yesterday. What should have been a joyful celebration ended with tragedy. Our thoughts are with those who were injured and to the first responders and emergency services on the ground. W & C”

King Charles and Queen Camilla also released a statement. The King and Queen are currently on a trip to Canada.

Merseyside Police have said the incident is not terrorism related. A 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area was arrested, and police believe he acted alone.

A total of 47 people were injured, with 27 being taken to the hospital.
