King Charles III has presented the Irish Guards with New Colours.
New Colours are ceremonial flags embodying a regiment. These New Colous will be carried in the Trooping of the Colour at the King’s official Birthday Parade.
The Old Colours were ceremoniously marched off while the New Colours laid on a drum stack altar. This ceremony emulates a makeshift battlefield ceremony.
King Charles was welcomed with the National Anthem and a royal salute from the guardsmen and officers. The New Colours were then consecrated with a blessing, which is extended to all those who bear and serve under them. The New Colours were presented to Lieutenants Harry Winterbottom and Monty Badger.
