New photo of King Charles released to mark Armed Forces Day

A new photo of King Charles has been released to mark Armed Forces Day as Head of the Armed Forces.

It was taken by photographer Hugo Burnand in the Grand Corridor at Windsor Castle in November 2023.

The image features the King in his Field Marshal No1 Full Ceremonial Frock Coat with medals, sword and decorations.

The medals worn by His Majesty include the collar of the Most Noble Order of the Garter with the Sovereign’s Greater George, sash of the Royal Victorian Order, Star of the Order of the Garter, Star of the Order of the Thistle, Order of Merit, Royal Victorian Chain, Sovereign’s badge of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, and Medal Bar.

Armed Forces Day is celebrated annually in late June to honour personnel, service families, veterans, and cadets in the military.
