Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan will make a state visit to the United Kingdom.
They will be hosted by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace at the end of June.
King Charles made five visits to Japan when he was the Prince of Wales. He attended the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito in 2019 and the enthronement of Emperor Akihito in 1990. He also visited in 2008, 1986 and 1970. He was joined by the then-Duchess of Cornwall in 2008.
Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, which was their first overseas visit since their accession.
The state visit had originally been planned for the spring of 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic.
