Princess Kako of Japan has attended a ceremony honouring mothers of hearing-impaired children.

Princess Kako, the second daughter of Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko, visited the Tower Hall Funabori in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, to attend the 46th ceremony to honour mothers of hearing-impaired children.

In sign language, she opened her speech by expressing her condolences to the victims of the Noto Peninsula earthquake. She added, “I hope that society as a whole will have a deeper understanding of hearing loss and that we will become a society where everyone can live with peace of mind.”
