Princess Akiko of Mikasa will host a special show on Japanese radio.
The program will be called “Princess Akiko’s All Night Nippon Premium”, but an airing date has not been announced yet. Listeners will be able to call in to ask the Princess questions.
Maki Hiwara, president of Nippon Broadcasting System Inc., said, “The princess has a very frank and open personality with profound sensibilities and holds many thoughts about contemporary Japan. There are few opportunities for us to be able to hear the direct voices of a member of the royal family.”
Princess Akiko’s late father, Prince Tomohitio, also hosted a program in 1975.
Kabuki actor Kankuro Nakamura and rakugo storyteller Shinohachi Tatekawa will appear as guests on Princess Akiko’s show to discuss Japanese culture.
