King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia has sent condolences to King Maha Vajiralongkorn upon the death of his eldest daughter, Princess Bajrakitiyabha.
The King wrote, “It is with profound sorrow that I learned of the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati.
“Her Majesty the Queen Mother joins me in expressing our sincere condolences and sympathy to Your Majesty and to all members of the Royal Family at this time of profound grief.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Your Majesty and all members of the Royal Family. May the cherished memory of Her Royal Highness and the exemplary legacy of service the Princess leaves behind remain a source of inspiration and strength to all who mourn Her passing.”
The Thai Royal Palace said the Princess died peacefully at Chulalongkorn Hospital at 7:48 PM. She died after years in a coma on life support, and a recent “severe” and “uncontrolled” infection that spread through her body only worsened her condition. The Princess suffered a heart attack on 14 December 2022 while running with her dogs in Khao Yai National Park, northeast of Bangkok. She was said to be training her dogs for the Thailand Working Dog Championship 2022, which was being organised by the Royal Thai Army.
