Two new photos were released by the Danish Royal House to mark the 85th birthday of Queen Margrethe.

The images were taken at Fredensborg Palace, where the Queen marked her birthday with friends and family.

Queen Margrethe is pictured in a violet dress with the Daisy Brooch pinned to her left shoulder.

The brooch originally belonged to her mother, Queen Ingrid, who had received it from her father, Swedish King Gustav VI Adolf, on the occasion of her 1935 wedding to Denmark’s King Frederick.

The diamonds in the brooch originally belonged to Queen Margrethe’s maternal grandmother, Crown Princess Margareta. They both shared the nickname Daisy.

Queen Margrethe marked her special day at Fredensborg Palace. She stepped out of the palace for the Changing of the Guard at noon alongside King Frederik, Queen Mary, Crown Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, Princess Josephine, Count Nikolai, Count Felix, Princess Benedikte and Queen Anne-Marie.

The group listened to the birthday concert performed by the Royal Life Guards Band.
