The Emperor Emeritus and Empress Emerita of Japan have returned to the place where they met for the first time.
Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko are staying in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, for a summer break, and they returned to the tennis court where they met for the first time 66 years ago. They were greeted by the members of the Karuizawa-kai, the organisation that manages the court.
They arrived around 11 a.m. and spent about half an hour watching members play tennis on the court.
