The Danish Royal Family took part in this year’s Royal Run across Denmark.

King Frederik and Queen Mary were joined by their four children, Crown Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, and Princess Josephine.

This year’s race, which had a record turnout of 112,450 participants, took place in Randers, Ringkøbing, Middelfart, Helsingør and Copenhagen/Frederiksberg.

The King said about the Royal Run on social media, “The sun is shining, and soon I will start this year’s Royal Run starting in Randers. More than 112,000 Danes have registered for this year’s race, and I am looking forward, together with my family, to travelling around the country and experiencing the atmosphere in the host cities.”

King Frederik began the day in Randers, running a mile, and Crown Prince Christian then ran 5km in Ringkøbing. The King also took part in the 5k run in Middelfart before later ending the day in Copenhagen.

The Crown Prince took to Instagram to share his excitement for the race, “I look forward to arriving in Ringkøbing via the fjord and experiencing the Royal Run together with everyone who has come to walk, run and cheer. See you along the route!”

Queen Mary, who shared images warming up with the family’s beloved dog, ran the 5 km distance in Helsingør.

Princess Isabella, Prince Vicent and Princess Josephine also took part in the race in Copenhagen and showed off their medals after their run.

Crown Prince Christian was unable to join his siblings in the capital due to his ongoing military training.

The Royal Run initially began in 2018 as part of the celebrations of then Crown Prince Frederik’s 50th birthday. It was such a huge success that it has become an annual event.
