Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden is in Texas this week.
In February 2025, the Kingdom of Sweden announced plans to establish a new Consulate-General in Houston, Texas. This is part of a new strategy to strengthen the Kingdom’s presence in the United States, as the Consulate-General will focus on promoting cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, and innovation.
Texas is one of the world’s most dynamic economies, and Houston stands out as a global hub for energy, emerging technologies and life sciences. This establishment is expected to support Swedish companies’ presence in the region, where around 90 already have operations, according to the Government of Sweden.
On Monday, the Crown Princess first visited Rice University, where she met with students and Swedish researchers currently working at the institution, including Anna-Karin Gustavsson. Crown Princess Victoria also visited Hermann Park—one of Houston’s oldest public parks—and the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens.
