The Prince and Princess of Wales have posted a heartfelt message on their social media following the death of an aspiring teen photographer.

The Princess of Wales had previously helped fulfil 17-year-old Liz Hatton’s “bucket list” dream of photographing an investiture at Windsor Castle.

The teenager was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer – a desmoplastic small round cell tumour – in January. She was given between six months and three years to live, the BBC reported.

A photo of Catherine hugging Liz was later shared on social media with William and Catherine writing: “A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us.”

Both the Prince and Princess of Wales met Liz and her family at Windsor Castle after the ceremony and spent some private time with the family.

Kensington Palace also shared images the teen took during the ceremony to their social media accounts, thanking her for “capturing these special moments.”

Liz later shared the photo of her hugging Catherine on her Instagram story remarking: “Such a lovely, genuine and kind people, I’m over the moon that my family and I had this experience.”
