Princess Margriet of the Netherlands is set to raffle off her ice skates for charity.

The aunt of King Willem-Alexander will raffle her size 39 ice skates to help raise funds for research on lymphoma.

The Princess has used the skates for years, and now that she has stepped away from skating, she is raffling them off to donors.

The winner will receive the skates and a personal card from Princess Margriet with her signature. The winner will be announced on 3 April.

Princess Margriet told Dutch news Blauw Bloed, “They have been on many tours. But that is not going to happen anymore. And even if I can no longer skate myself, or if it is wise for me not to skate anymore, these skates can still have a second life. And hopefully, with this lottery, they can still contribute a great deal to the good cause.”

De Hollandse 100 made the announcement regarding the Princess’s decision. Just last year, Princess Margriet competed in the De Hollandse 100 but fell and broke her arm. She is now using those skates to raise money for scientific research into cancer.

De Hollandse 100 is an athletic competition in the Netherlands that raises money for research into lymphoma. Margriet’s son, Prince Bernhard, created the event in support of his foundation. The Prince was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2013. He later recovered and created the Lymph & Co foundation to raise awareness and funding for research into the disease.
