King Felipe was joined by the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia in attending the F1 Grand Prix in Madrid.
Spain’s King Felipe VI attended Madrid’s 2026 Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix on Sunday morning. The King was joined by his two daughters, the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia. The three had the opportunity to meet some of the most iconic faces in motorsports, such as Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso, in the FIA Box.
On the newly created semi-urban circuit dubbed ‘MADRING’, King Felipe and his daughters then met with visiting royalty. Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain was also in the paddock.

In a statement on social media, the Court of the Crown Prince noted, “His Royal Highness conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to His Majesty the King of Spain. In turn, His Majesty the King of Spain conveyed his greetings to HM the King.”
The Royal Family also toured the McLaren team’s box before heading down to the starting line as the national anthem was performed, followed by a fly-past.
After the race, King Felipe presented the trophy to the Italian driver Kimi Antonelli.
