On the 20th anniversary of the Boxing Day tsunami, the Swedish royals remembered the many victims.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden attended a televised national memorial service in Uppsala Cathedral in memory of the Swedes who died in the tsunami in 2004.
They were joined by families and relatives, representatives of the Riksdag and government, defense and authorities, ecumenical guests and representatives of the diplomatic corps as they lit candles in memory of the victims.
The Archbishop led the service and he read from Psalm 73. The Speaker and the Prime Minister also spoke during the service.
At the same time, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar visited a memorial service in Stockholm and placed a wreath from the family.
