Royal condolences for Switzerland

After the devastating fire at a Swiss ski resort bar on New Year’s Eve, royals from across Europe have sent their condolences to Switzerland.

Luxembourg:

The message translates to:

“It was with deep emotion that I learned of the tragedy that struck Crans-Montana on 1 January 2026, transforming a moment of celebration into a time of mourning for Switzerland and all those affected. In these hours of great sadness, on behalf of the people of Luxembourg and in our own name, we extend our sincerest condolences to the families and to the loved ones of the victims, as well as our heartfelt thoughts to those injured. Please be assured of our unconditional solidarity in these difficult times.”

Monaco:

The message translates to:

“The Principality of Monaco learned with deep emotion of the fire that occurred in Crans-Montana. The Sovereign Prince and the Prince’s government extend their support and solidarity to the government of the Swiss Confederation, local authorities and all the services involved.

At least 40 people have died, and 115 have been injured after a fire broke out at a Swiss ski resort’s bar on New Year’s Eve. It is believed to be a tragic accident and not any type of attack.
