Crown Prince of Dubai sworn in as Defence Minister

Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has been sworn in as the Defence Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Deputy Prime Minister.

The 41-year-old was sworn in on 18 July after his appointment on 14 July.

According to Gulf News, the cabinet reshuffle was done to “further solidify the leadership and operational efficiency across various sectors.”

He succeeds his father who had held the role since 1971.

The Sheikh has been the Crown Prince of Dubai since 2008.

Hamdan is the son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
