The Swedish Royal Family has remembered the victims of the attack at Risbergska School in Örebro.

King Carl Gustaf lit candles for the victims in the Royal Chapel of the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel attended an evening memorial at Örebro Castle. All those affected were honoured at the outdoor memorial service. The service was televised live on SVT.

A 35-year-old man opened fire at Risbergska School on the afternoon of 4 February 2025. Police have said the male perpetrator acted alone and killed himself after attacking those at the school. It is the worst mass shooting in Swedish history, where 11 died (including the perpetrator) and six were injured.

Campus Risbergska is a school for adults who have not graduated from high school. It also provides Swedish lessons for immigrants and houses an upper secondary school.

The King and Queen Silvia visited the city the day after the shooting, and His Majesty told the press, “All of Sweden is mourning today. The Queen and I are thinking of the deceased and all those who have been affected.”

The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel visited the school a few days later.
