The state visit of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima to the Czech Republic has been changed after the Dutch government collapsed.
The Dutch government collapsed yesterday after Geert Wilders withdrew his party, the PVV, from the coalition following a row over migration. Prime Minister Dick Schoof confirmed he was stepping down and has offered the resignation of the cabinet to King Willem-Alexander. New elections will now have to be planned as the current ministers will seek to remain in their posts in a caretaker position.
The state visit to the Czech Republic began today, and King Willem-Alexander will return to the Netherlands after the activities of the first day are completed. He will need to speak with his advisers about the political situation. Queen Máxima will remain in the Czech Republic to complete the second day.
Minister Beljaarts will also not join the official delegation as he has resigned.
