Casa Real has unveiled the Spanish royal Christmas cards for 2023, and a photo from an important event takes centre stage.
A family photo of King Felipe, Queen Letizia, the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia from Leonor’s 18th birthday on 31 October when she wore allegiance to the Spanish Constitution.
The royals’ holiday message says in Spanish and English, “Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year 2024. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2024. We wish this with all our affection.”
They each signed their names below the message.
This will be the card sent out to well-wishers this festive season. Casa Real has an English and Spanish version to send, depending on where you are from and what language you write in. If you write in a language other than Spanish, you will receive a card with the handwritten message in English; likewise, if you write in Spanish, you will receive the version officially released.
As usual, Casa Real also released the private Christmas card of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, which will only be sent to friends and family. Their Majesties’ card features religious artwork with the message in Spanish, “Merry Christmas and happy new year 2024.”
The former monarch and his consort’s signatures are at the bottom of the card.
