Queen Sonja to receive pacemaker

Queen Sonja of Norway will have a pacemaker inserted.

The Queen of Norway was recently admitted to the hospital after having atrial fibrillation while on a skiing trip. It has now been settled that she will need to have a pacemaker.

According to the Norwegian Royal Court, the procedure is set to take place on Thursday, 16 January, at the Rikshospitalet, and she will be admitted to the hospital the night before. The Queen will stay in the hospital for one or two days following the operation.

Queen Sonja is 87 years old.
