Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway has extended her military service.
The Princess originally planned for 12 months of service, but she has extended her time to 15 months with the rest of her company. She will now conclude her military service in April.
The extension was revealed as the press was invited to the training camp.
Ingrid Alexandra served initially at the Engineer Battalion in Brigade Nord and she has now begun her professional training.
The press saw training on explosive breakthroughs in minefields, as well as Ingrid Alexandra as a storm engineer and gunner on a CV90 STING.
Of her time in the military, the Princess said: “I have been challenged many times here. The most important thing I have learned is that you can do much more than you think, you are much stronger together. Whether it’s in a team or in a troop or company, you get a lot more done when you’re not alone.”
On a windy day in Norway, she added praise for her regiment: “And then I have to brag about my company. They are incredibly good at motivating each other and making every day good. Without them, I would not have enjoyed myself as much here.”
Princess Ingrid Alexandra is said to not receive any special treatment and even cleans toilets, like her fellow servicemen and women.
Her training is in preparation for her future role as Queen of Norway.
