Princess Astrid of Norway has been admitted to the National Hospital (Rikshospitalet) in Oslo.

Princess Astrid of Noway, Mrs. Ferner, 94, has been admitted to Rikshospitalet—Oslo University Hospital—according to Se og Hør. It is understood the Princess has been ill for “sometime” and recently missed out on participating in the Belgian state visit to Norway.

Se og Hør also published photographs of King Harald and Queen Sonja arriving at the National Hospital to visit with their beloved elder sister and sister-in-law respectively.

Royal expert Caroline Vagle tells Se og Hør,

He himself [Harald] has described her as boundlessly loyal, which she has shown an entire country that she is. She has followed her grandfather’s, father’s and brother’s slogan — “Everything for Norway”. When the King himself was in hospital in 2024, his older sister visited. Now he is the one who shows her support and care. They always stand up for each other, which shows us that there is a close bond.

The Princess, who once served as Norway’s “First Lady”, has had various health issues over time including treatment for mobility and hip issues. Her Royal Highness has also used a wheelchair in recent years.

Princess Astrid spent her 94th birthday at work, with Queen Sonja, opening an exhibition at the Kunststallen this past February.

The Royal News Organisation, as well as Se og Hør, has reached out to the Royal Palace for comment.
